This sounds like a great idea, however, the problem that comes with this is that the deer carry a brainworm parasite known as Elaphostrongylus rangiferi that can kill mass numbers of caribou if it gets into a population. The brainworm is currently present in most of our caribou herds and is a cause for great concern as they have helped severely depleat caribou numbers in the past. THe Avalon herd is currently experiencing an infestation of this parasitic nematode.
