Hi Tom - please post these to ecapelin.ca if you haven't already done so! It's being fronted by a former MSc student of mine - now a Research Scientist at DFO.

I have posted my sighting to e-caplin. Apparently caplin rolled in that location on the night of July 15.

If you go to that beach again, you should try going just before dark. I was there a few days ago, and after dark there were flounder, tomcod, and even an ocean pout with the capelin close enough to see from the beach. There might be other beaches that have the same fish, but that beach is fairly shallow and that makes it easier to see the fish.

I will do that! I am hoping they will hit Petley beach in front of my house this year.
