This Hairy Woodpecker spent about 5 minutes beating at the utility pole. There have been at least three Hairy Woodpeckers around there for years (sometimes they fly about in threes). Occasionally they beat at my friend's satellite dish or a piece of farm equipment.

very neat ... a dead log like that - wonder if it has any insects?
