This is an unknown lichen found in a mid-aged balsam fir forest in York Harbour. The lichen was growing on a 40 to 60 year old balsm fir tree at approximately 1.3 meters from the ground on the trunk.

I don't think this is BLF..

I think that this is more likely to be an unlichenized fungus. Was the host tree dead? Mac

Hi Mac, I just so happen to walk by it for my lunchtime walk. The tree is still alive and kicking (middle aged). It has been persistent on the tree for about a year now (since I first noticed it).
