This white sub-adult coyote - likely an example of founder-effect leucism - was the only live coyote I saw during my field season. White coats are uncommon on the island but not unknown. I wonder if this coat color is more frequent here as compared to the mainland, possibly as a consequence of the restricted gene pool of Newfoundland's few colonizing coyotes.
