I notice the terns always choose to land on the posts sticking up out of the water, rather than the posts on the completed wharf.

absolutely!!! time is of the essence to get quality time observing out rich wildlife. this year I've taken the time to do travelling, still didn't ponder long enough in one place to appreciate the area. I actually I wanted to see as much of our land as I could, spent 7 weeks, man, needs years to really do it right.
