Observed Great Horned Owl perched in a tree beside Medalist Pond, Flatrock while flyfishing from a canoe. Owl flew away when I was albout 20 feet away from it.

No. I have never observed a Great Horned Owl there before in the many years I have spent fishing in that area. This is why I thought it was a noteworthy sighting.
Unfortunately, I do not live in NFLD anymore, I was home on vacation when I made the observation. So I cannot comment if the owl is frequenting this area on a regular basis.
