Lichen for Mac.
The sun played havoc with my camera and eyes today - these are the best images I could obtain.
The 'Abies balsamea' is not healthy (aphid damage), about 4-5 metres high, 40-50 years old, and growing in a relatively sheltered area.

The first image is from February. The last image is of lichen on 'Betula papyrifera.' The roundish smudge on the last image is NOT an error, it's what's on the tree in reality. It looks just like that.

Hi Marnhull,
This one will have to stay a mystery for now. I'd need to examine a specimen to key it out. A rough guess is that it's either a Flavoparmelia or a Flavopunctelia, but yours has numerous fruiting bodies (apothecia) which are uncommon in both above-mentioned genera. Have a look at images of these at the following and see what you think: http://www.sharnoffphotos.com/lichens/lichens_home_index.html
