I observed a flock of crows making a fuss at the edge of the woods. after a few minutes I realized their was a reason for that behavior. I watched for a little while and noticed they were diving down close to the ground in succession. then I slowly walked closedr expecting an animal to be there. then I realized there was a rock laying on the edge of the outcrop. on getting closer the top of the rock moved a bit. then i got interested. realized then it was a very camoflaged Horned Owl. went back and got my camera. got to within 8 feet of the Owl. at that time I had taken several pics. the crows flew away and the Owl looked at me . I had a chance to get a couple of more pics before it flew away, landing again about 1000 feet away.
