Speckled alder with male catkins and female flowers (pistillate catkins [no stamens] and ovoid infructescences [fruiting stage of the flowers]). No pollen yet shed.

It would be great if you could note when it starts to shed pollen! Seems like everything is a bit early this year...

I made a record of this last year: in 2009, Alnus incana started shedding pollen on April 27 and continued shedding pollen until May 27 (dozens of trees observed). There's a lot of staggering of emergence in springtime, as you can imagine.
